Pilgrimage to the Tantric temples of India (See Photos below)

With John Hawken, 4th -25th January 2012.

Looking for adventure and inspiration? For holidays that are holy days? To connect with the roots of tantra, be touched in your heart and your spirit, and come back a changed person?

This pilgrimage is only for those with who have attended tantra workshops for whom powerful experiences are more important than creature comforts. We will travel mostly by train and so will have close contact with Indian life. We will visit the most powerful temples and sacred places that John has been excited by on his previous seven visits to India, and meditate and when possible do rituals there.

Our first stop will be Varanassi, the spiritual home of Hinduism and the place of Buddha’s meditation under the bodhi tree. We will soak up the atmosphere of the ghats, the ritual bathing steps in the Ganges, and the cremation places by the sacred river.

Our next stop will be Kajuraho, the site of the famous temples covered in erotic carvings, site of one of the original tantra schools.

In Orchaa, meaning secret place, we will find atmospheric ruined palaces with vultures and green parrots and monkeys, will meet saddhus and visit the temple of Ram, the god of love.

The second part of the pilgrimage will take us to the three most famous circular temples of the 64 dakinis, at Marble Rocks Jabalpur, in central Orissa and near Bubaneshwar.

Here we will be able to practice rituals in the ancient energies, as the temples are hardly visited.

We will end the pilgrimage at the sun temple at Kanark, near Puri, where there are more magnificent erotic carvings and a wonderful sandy beach to relax on after the journey.
